Post: or of the press

Define "the press." Franklin First News is a local online weekly published weekly since November 1998. The New Jersey Press Association issues Press Passes. We were denied two years ago since we do not have a print publication and "they saw no need for us to cross police and fire lines." Radio, TV and news syndicates do not have print publications. They get press passes from NJPA. The big factor here is that we are publishing criticism of New Jersey's Division of Youth and Family Services (DYFS) and want to protect our information sources from disclosure. At this moment, I suspect we could be viewed as only a hobby by a judge. So what establishes a "press"?
