Post: message board entrance by password/liabilities?

I am part of a condominium homeowner association. To gain entrance to our homeowner website, you must use a password. Firt, we were allowed to post anonomously...then the President removed anonomous postngs and said you must use your unit#. Then we posted to the message board using our condo unit #. Because of the nature of the postings (postings were made defying the President's statements of facts),the Board of directors has just removed this "message board" saying that it leaves the homeowner assoc. open for potential liability lawsuits e.g. slander. Does anyone know the laws for this...we would like to reinstate the message board...can we? Please help explain why we cannot since it is a guarded password community. Thank you
