OK -- but the time you did for the felony is irrelevant. Even if you did no time at all you would still have a felony conviction on your record which would disqualify you from owning a firearm. The only way you can legally own a firearm is to somehow get the conviction removed from your record. You will need to seek the help of a local attorney. It will be very difficult to get a felony removed from your record but that is your only hope to regain the right to own a firearm. Remember, in the meantime if you should get caught with a firearm in your possession you will face a very serious felony conviction.
