    Here is the AG opinion I think you are referring to. The opinion only concerns violent or drug
    related crimes. Not sure if your offense is considered violent. Also, the opinion refers to RCW
    9.41.070(2) which is the Concealed pistol license statute not the firearm permit statute. The
    opinion seems to be directed to a concealed carry permit not to simple ownership/possession of a
    firearm.


    "Under RCW 9.41.070(2), an individual who
    was convicted of a violent or drug-related
    crime does not regain the right to lawfully
    possess and carry a handgun if, absent a
    finding of rehabilitation or innocence, the
    individual is pardoned or completes the
    terms of parole and receives a final
    discharge and restoration of civil
    rights under chapter 9.96 RCW. Op.Atty.Gen.
