Actually, a law library is essential, even with a full service subscription to Lexis or Westlaw. You can not do a
thorough legislative history search on either Lexis or Westlaw. That is very important in writing appellate briefs.
Depending on which service you subscribe to, you may not have access to A.L.R or other secondary materials. There are a
lot of reasons for a competent law professional to work with actual hard copy material only available in a library. Our
supreme court library doesn't seem to attract homeless people -- I think it's too cold and the magazines don't have a lot
    of pictures.
