J.B. sorry to inform you of this but your pretty much screwed. I am also in the same boat. I got in some trouble in '99 and they imposed the 10 year ban on me as well, told me It was waived- sure it was. I had my record expunged i.e- conviction set aside; a plea of not guilty is entered; case is dismissed per penal code section 1203.4. Look familiar? well anyhow if you get your case dismissed per 1203.4 then you fall into section 12021 as well, which bans you from owning firearms for 10 years. I spoke to a gentleman By the name of John Garbin, a public defender for los angeles county who deals with right restoration concerning firearms (only guy in the county). You may want to try calling him.(local probation office may be able to find his number I lost it). But even with a govenors pardon-which you probably will have more luck at winning the lotto on two separate occasions than getting- you will likely fall to penal code 12021. sorry man, I have been trying for years no way around it but to wait a few more.
