Post: Use of song lyrics on t-shirt

Posted by Ginger on 4/11/08

I have a friend who sells homemade items for children she
has sewn on the internet. Can she quote one line of a song
without infringing on the copyright of the artist if she
attributes the lyrics to the correct artist? I don't
practice in this area. I read about fair use and still
couldn't get a solid answer from what I read. I did see
that if you attribute it to the artist then, if anything,
you are only facing potential permission violations rather
than copyright violations. Is this correct?
