Does the homeowner have to give the police permission to
search a house, or can another member of the household who
is not on the lease give consent? My bf ws falsely arrested
for domestic violence and ordered not to have contact with
me. The following day he came to get his things, and the
cops stopped by to check in. He told them I was at work, so
they left but then came back because the place I work was
already closed. I assume he gave them permission to search
the house and they found me and arrested him. My mom is the
only one on the lease. Is this legal? Did the fact that my
work closed give them probable cause?
