Post: Attorney Conflict of Interest

Posted by Will Freeman on 5/29/04
The corporation is the defendant. I am the plaintiff. I am one of two shareholders, minority shareholder oppression is the issue. Other shareholder's personal counsel became corporation's general counsel, stepped back as another organization became general counsel and is now an employee of the firm that presently represents the defendant as general counsel in the suit. I believe this is a conflict of interest by both the original general counsel and the firm presently engaged as the company's general counsel. True? On what basis does this have merit or not? The suit is a Washington state civil matter. Have run out of money for representation at this time so am now, unfortunately, representing myself pro se. Motion for Summary Judgment is to be heard in two weeks. I appreciate any insight.
