    If that is what your Agreement reads, they are in violation
    of the terms of the Agreement. When one party wishes to
    amend an Agreement, all parties to the Agreement must agree
    to the changes; read, they cannot demand the change. Just
    becuase they are your employer does not give them the right
    to violate the terms of the Agreement.

    You can offer to accept their desired change with the
    stipulation they remove the non-compete. An amendment, or
    new Agreement, will be drawn up. If you are reviewing this
    new document without an attorney, complete a side by side
    review to ensure they do not insert other restrictions or
    remove amything that was not agreed to previously.

    Since you thinking about suggesting they remove the non-
    compete clause, I would hope your current Agreement hammers
    out the term of your employment.
