Post: Tolling SoL

It's my understanding that a statute of limitations tolls
while the case is being litigated. For example, if a case
with a two year statute of limitations is litigated for 4
years then dismissed without prejudice. Can the case be
refiled because the statute of limitations was tolled for
those 4 years?? I need some California authority on this
matter.
