In 1974 when Ed Brown first ran for sherrif,
he ran with a campaign that had 2 legs.

1. His first priority was to "Get Even" with the
Marines aboard Camp Lejeune and Camp Geiger.

2. He advertised himself as a "Bi-Sexual" to fit
the social fashion of the time. (Bi-sexual then
was the means to get around the state anti-homosexual
laws. {Which were updated in 1995 to include bisexuals
as "Violent Felony Sex Offenders"})

I ran against Tommy Pollard that same year and lost
the bid for State Congress. I have all of Onslow County's
Campaigns for that year in a scrapbook.
