I have been wondering about this for many months, all these
accusations bring light to the situation.

I can tell you this: When I applied for a job as a NURSE at
the Onslow jail, it 'seemed' like there was a problem. For a
YEAR, I just kept on plugging along, showing them I was very
interested in the job.

Unable to deter me, it was told to me that 'the sheriff was
hesitant to hire me because I had a Criminal Justice degee.'

Now, think of all that entails, including the fact that
inmates proabably know more about the law than myself! The
fact that it is a Criminal Justice degree and not a law
degree. The fact that any nurse could be accused that
she "might" try to practice medicine like a doctor. Or even
a prison guard could 'try' to teach inmates the law.

What, I ask would make someone ever make a comment like
that?

Subsequently, I was hired only for training and they never
called me for hours. The next excuse was they thought I was
afraid of the prisoners. Mind you, I did my internship with
the Hartford (CT) Police Dept. and thought 'shots fired'
calls were cool. Hartford also had the highest murder rate
per capita at one point. Why would I be afraid of the
prisoners.... behind bars? I work for a juvenile pscych
hospital right now which is WAY more dangerous!!
