    Post: Wrongly accused of shoplifting

    Posted by orlimmig on 5/22/06

I was recently issued citation for shoplifting 20$ of items
which was in baby stroller. My mom accidentally walked out
of the store without knowing about the items since my baby
was crying she wanted to pacify her. The security guard
stopped her and when i came out after check out asked me who
kept the items in the stroller, i accepted it honestly
without knowing what was happening. So they charged my mom
and me for shoplifting. i hired an attorney and explained it
to the prosecutor who did not even prosecute the case, i.e
    dismissed the case.

Now my question is: Can I Sue the store? They also forced me
to sign the acceptance letter that i shoplifted the items
else they would call the child service to take my baby away
and they would send me to jail...i freaked out and signed
the papers. after that they let me go home with a citation.

Please please help me, my baby was just 8 weeks old and i
was still recovering from postpartum pain. i had to go
through all this mess, lost sleep, was not able to nurse the
baby due to all the stress, almost entered postpartum
depression, took months to recover from this incident. I
want the store to realise what they did was wrong. please help.
