Curmudgeon,
By your reasoning you are saying once a criminal, ALWAYS a criminal. That is BullSh...! And it is prejudicial/discriminatory and leads to a life of oppression! I don't care what a person has done, no person is beyond redemption. STOP judging other people based on their pasts (which is gone anyway), or you will be judged by the same standards you use for others by God! That is a BIG message in the Bible! And you say that crime is deliberate and not a mistake. Of course, crime is deliberate because the person doing it is doing it for some reason (maybe being brought up in a broken home with no upbringing). We ALL make "mistakes" in our lives (wrong job, wrong spouse, curse, lie, lust, adultery, greed, gossip, slander, anger, immoral, etc....) But if a person has committed some crime and has been punished for it and served their debt to society, it should not be held against them for the rest of their lives! That is completely WRONG! Why bother punishing them for a limited amount of time and then releasing them at all, if that is the case? If society is not going to forgive a person's past trangressions, then what's the point of releasing them from prison in the first place. They will have no life when they get out anyway. Why not just keep them in prison for the rest of their lives OR better yet....because YOU feel once a criminal, ALWAYS a criminal..why not just KILL them (gas, lethal injuction) and save the tax payers money from supporting them in prison. Right! Have you ever lied in your life? Should I judge you as a "Liar" for the rest of your life thinking everything that comes out of your mouth for the rest of your life will be a lie? How utterly FOOLISH! You may say, "Well, I can lie all I want too because it isn't against the law." But does that make it right? It is against God's law. And even the courtrooms call this perjury. Have you ever been angry with another person? God says you are a murderer at heart when you do so and subject to His judgment, lest your mercy towards others wins out against his judgement towards you. Have you ever looked upon a woman with lust? God says you are an adulterer at heart when you do so. But you may say lust and adultery is legal. Not according to God! Are you prideful and arrogant? These are abominations to God. Simply put and this says it all...."no one is perfect, not a single person on earth" and if you or anyone will not forgive another persons transgression in their life, then you yourself will NOT be forgiven by God and these ramifications are eternal. But you may be an athiest for all I know. I also know my words wont change a person who is unwilling to change either. God says people who will not listen are stubborn and rebellious because they hate the light and love the darkness.
