Post: shoplifting in Ohio

My 14 yearold was charged with shoplifting from a thrift
store.He put on a pair of used $6.00 shoes and left his
shoes on the rack while he went to the next isle to look
at tee shirts,he was then approached by store clerk who
then detained him and called police.The police officer did
not call me to tell me that they had arrested my son.A
friend who happened to see what happend called me.when I
arrived my son was in handcuffs in the back of the police
car.Can you be arrested and charged with shoplifting if
you havent left the store,and were the police officers
required to notify me
