Re: Ex Macy's Loss Prevention Officer
Posted by N on 1/13/10

Hello...I was caught vandalizing at Macy's in CA and they made me pay for the
item I vandalized and then made me sign a Controlled Release form. First the
LPO came up to me outside of the store and told me I had been caught
vandalizing the merchandise and then she said that initially I was going to steal
it but b/c I heard her on her radio I put the item back and just left the store.
Now on the controlled release it says I shoplifted, the LPO told me that the
reason I had to sign it is because their computer system was down (she did take
all of my information by hand) and back when they didn't have computer
systems they would have ppl sign this form. I signed it, along with a trespass
notification and some other document stating my vandal totalled 89$. My
question is, what can I expect next? Being that the controlled release says I
shoplifted, will I be charged for that crime? Is there a way as to how they screen
who they watch or not? If they suspected me of shoplifting before, could they
charge me for that too or can they only charge me for the incident they caught
    me on which was vandalizing?
