    Post: Shoplifting

    Posted by kay on 11/03/09

I went to Marshalls store and shopped. I spent $80 at the
checkout, but I also had merchandise (tang top) of $9.99 in
my purse (shoplifted). I got caught when I walked out the
store and it was my first time. I felt horrible and cried
for spurring the moment and just to save extra $9.99 (the
cheapest item of my purchase that day). There was no police
involved, but I had to sign on a piece of paper before
released. On the paper stated that I may soon be received a
civil letter (to pay for damage). And also, may receive a
letter from ChoicePoint (retail theft database used for
employment screening) to explain the record for this incident.

This happened on June 11, 09, but I’ve not yet received
anything in the mail regarding this (today is Oct 2, 09). I
don’t mind at all to pay for the damage but I’m so concern
that I’m so concern that I WON’T BE ABLE TO GET A JOB IN THE
FUTURE AND/OR OBTAIN MY US CITIZENSHIP. When should I get
these letters? Or will I get them at all? What should I do
next? Should I start pursuing my citizenship without
    worrying this issue?

I really regret what I did especially for this first
incident and this little of amount….I don’t want to ruin my
future and I need to sponsor my parents to come from
    overseas. Please kindly advice.
