Safford loans are administered by SallieMae. There are subsidized and
unsubsidized Safford loans available depending on your qualified
education expenses and income. The subsidized loans are interest free
while you are in school and no payments are due until six months after
you graduate (or drop out). The unsubsidized Safford loans carry an
interest charge while you are in school but no payment is due until you
are out of school. Outright grants are also available to DETC school
students. I paid all law school expenses and living expenses with
Safford loans while I was a student at an ABA school. The interest rate
is keyed to the prime rate. Currently very low.

Check out the SallieMae website for more info.
