Re: LL.M degree will not get you bar admission
Posted by .... on 10/01/08

I did read your post, and I quote:

"Actually, there are many of us who make upwards of 100K doing social security disability."

You said many of US. You wanted to imply you are a member of that class. I am a member of that class so I called BS.

You could have said there are many people who practice law in the area of SSA...

So in your dozen cases I presume you did not have to cross examine the government doctor as to his opinion at the hearing?

If so, how did you voir dire him? How did you deconstruct his conclusion using clinical evidence?

How did you establish credibility in your client and in the client's treating physicians?

What about the vocational expert? How did you keep his RFC evaluation out of evidence and get your own in?

How many doctors have you deposed?

Sounds like you may have had some luck with listings cases but what happens when you have a 42 year old ADHD bipolar
client with insufficient diagnosis who is not treating, and has recent onset fybromyalgia but can still type and sit for 8
hours? (Real case of mine - my client was awarded benefits)

I dont put adds in the paper or anywhere else - I do not advertise at all because my clients come to be from ABA grad
attorneys. When I get an easy listings case I don't even enter an appearance - I just help them organize their evidence
and help them submit it. They get benefits and are happy - I don't take a fee. They refer a lot of business to me. I do
the hard cases no one else wants.

While your limited exposre and perspective of SSA may very well be "monkey business" mine is not.

I'm not a naysayer. I am a successful DL law graduate and I have earned respect in the legal community from the kind of
lawyers who matter. I think DL is great.

I wish you the best success on your bar exam and your future practice wherever it takes you.

But you still are not yet qualified to talk about the complicated legal practice of SSA.
