Re: Denial of Due Process and Equal Protection

Dear Tom,
Where did hit happen? The same thing has been happening
for years here in Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana. The jails
are full with hundreds of men unable to make bond and a
waiting a trial which never seems to come. A new practice
has developed in the criminal "justice" system of men who
plead guilty to get out of jail, not who plead guilty and go
to jail. Many innocent defendants are pleading guilty just
to get out of jail, as they are held in jail for many months
and years and having their trial dates fixed and passed over
and refixed and passed over and refixed and passed over ad
infinitum. Don't give up! You'll find a lawyer. Just keep
looking, but don't let too much time pass, for there are
statutes of limitations. Best of luck!
Sincerely,
Hardy Parkerson, Atty.
THEIR CRIME
I visit prisons all the time.
They're filled with men
Whose greatest crime
Is that they haven't got a dime.
They languish in their prison cells,
Unable there to make their bails;
For the higher that their bonds are set,
The more money that the judges get.
Presumed innocent, they serve their time,
Are not convicted of a crime;
But despairing in a prison cell,
They plead guilty TO GET OUT OF JAIL.
And so, my friends, as you can see,
That's not the way it's s'posed to be.
