Re: Driver Surcharge-Texas Transportation Code Ch.708

The fact that you are getting punished once at the municipal level and again at
the state level is unconstitutional. So, you get a notice in the mail of your
$260
surcharge that the state is tagging on to your other fines you have paid. Guess
what? You cannot pay all three years of the $260 upfront. Why do you suppose? I
will tell you why. People move, people forget and that second year comes up.
They
do not get the information since they moved. At this point, the State suspends
your license. This gives probable cause to the officer which is going to arrest
you and tow your car, and god forbid, charging you with other charges, because
this gives him the authority to search your body and vehicle. THIS IS A FREAKIN
RACKET. The MSB, which is the company that manages the surcharge was able to
call
me and tell me that I have recieved another surcharge the day I was walking out
of
jail, literally, but, were not able to call me and tell me that I was driving on
a
suspended license. RACKET! Because of one insurance ticket, I have paid $1860
and
have spent 7 days in jail at two different facilities. And that is not racking
up
any new charges during the probable cause situation. THIS IS BS for a non-
criminal
act. The police do not even know this about the surcharge. I told 2 Fort Worth
policemen a month or so about it, and they were clueless. When you call MSB, the
auto attendant says "for a list of your last 6 accounts" WHAT!!!! I counldnt
imagine. I only have 2 @ $1860 paid. I can imagine all the single moms, students
and others that are either going to jail, all the time, or cannot get a job
because they are slaves to this BS. The person that said quit whinning, is
exactly
the type of idiot that blindly sends money to the traffic cam people, which
itself
has been determined unconstitutional by the Texas Supreme Court. Idiot
