Post: 15 months lack or requesting discovery

Posted by Nancy Beach on 5/30/05

I am in the process of a divorce since March 2003
I had a good attorney and he dropped my case due to a
    conflict of interest.
I proceeded for a few months on my own and did get some
offer on the table from my husbands attorney> We were in
the process when I had to go in front of the matromonial
Judge and he told me not to come back without an attorney.
I hired on and for 15 months this attorney did not do
anything for me at all as my husbands attorney collected
discovery on me. The attorney did not even show in court
for me. I dropped him 1 month before the judge said he was
going to try me, and I had found out of the attorney
neglect. I was in a very poor position, my husband had a
very successful business grossing 600K a year.
I hired another attorney and paid out 20K to try and get
things redirected. The judge had shut off discovery for my
husbands business and threatened only a concern to take my
pension as a nurse for the government.
I now am signing over 600K worth of property to my husband
and paying him 7500$ to keep my pension.
I am wondering if there is any way I can try and recoup
some of the expsenses to the attorney that did not request
any discovery for me that left me in a very compramizing
    position.
The attorney grievance is the next step but at this time I
do not dare to do this because the Judge was predijuical
towards me for dropping this attorney.
