    Post: An unfortunate mistake

    Posted by Gennifer on 9/13/06

One night last week I had an unfortunate encounter with
an officer, it was a very stupid incident but I was
arrested and i'm very scared and nervous about what is
going to happen to me. So I just wanted to get some
thoughts on what people thought was going to happen to me.
I'm a college student and really wish this wasn't
happening to me right now, it's not like me to get
arrested. So here's my story, I was walking home with a
group of friends and as we were crossing the street one of
the boys handed me this step stool that was on the side
walk and said "that would be cool in my apartment",I
said "OK" sarcastically and put it down on the side walk
when I reached the other side of the street. Now, this
stool happened to have a sign on it that said reserved
parking. I get half way up the block when I hear someone
running up behind me, it was an officer and he gripped
both of my arms from behind me. I was really scared cause
I couldn't see who it was and they pulled me backward.
When I saw that it was an officer I asked him what was
going on, he brought me back to the cop car and after I
found out that it was a reserved parking sign I told him i
was sorry and that I didn't mean any harm by it and i
would put it back across the street. To sum things up he
charged me with criminal mischeif. I am very nervous
because that doesn't sound very good. I had to ask him if
i was being arrested before he told me what was going on
at all and I was not read any rights but i'm not sure
that if in this case he had to. What do you think I should
do and What do you think they will do to me? Thanks for
taking the time to read my story
