    Ahhh, least we tell her that it will be on her record and
    could potentially prevent her from seeking employment;
    background checks.

    PLEAD NOTHING! Hire an attorney. If you can't afford, request
    a public defender. At least then you stand a chace at a
    diversion program (community service, fine, etc). When it's
    done, it will not be on your record.
