If the lawyer blows a court appearance and a default
judgment is entered he will be in big trouble with the court
and eventually you. Don't worry--part of the advantage of
having a real lawyer is it is a sort of insurance. If he
misses a court appearance and it costs you -- you will have
a great malpractice claim for at least as much as it costs
    you and probably more.
