Post: Deceptive Hiring Practices

Posted by David on 2/02/06
I was hired by my employeer approximately 5 months ago. At
the time, we were told it was a permanent full-time
position and the conract would last a minimum of 1 year. A
couple weeks ago we were told they were going to kill off
our contract and move it somewhere else. They were laying
off 100 people (everyone on the contract). During the
contract, there were rumors that the job was a temp but we
were reaffirmed over and over again by our boss it was a
permanent position and was not going anywhere any time
soon. Since the meeting, we have found out a few things
through sources:
1: the security guard was told it was a temp contract from
the beginning - as were the supervisors.
2: All our security badges and our computer logins were set
to expire on march 5th (the last day of our contract)
Does anyone think we have a case at all? We were
specifically told it was a one year minimum contract at
hiring. And this is obviously not the case. We were lied
to, plain and simple.
Thanks in advance - oh btw, this is in Texas.
