Post: Can you make tipped workers tip out hourly workers?

I just have one question I really hope someone can help me out with. I wait tables at an average restaraunt/bar. My general manager says it's policy for all servers to tip out the kitchen when they check out at the end of the night and if we don't like it, we can work somewhere else. I agree with that, except I didn't know that was a condition of working there when I started and I don't want to leave now. I've been there six months, and while I make an allright living, it's not like I'm ever going to get rich. What he's talking about will cost me 120-200 dollars a month. It's like having another electric bill to pay. It doesn't seem right that I could lose my job over this, but it feels like I'm being extorted because they don't want to pay their cooks a decent wage. Is there anything I can do, or does he have the right to enforce this policy? Help please!!
