Post: hostile work environment

I have been employed at a local restaurant for the last year. My husband is disabled and I am the primary provider. The management at my place of employment continually engage in vulgar demeaning language. There is blatant drug abuse by management and drug selling occurring almost every day. I e-mailed the owner and we went to a local Starbucks and had a conversation which I tape recorded for my own protection. The owner has difficulty confronting his management and has done nothing to remedy the situation. There are two employees that were caught stealing large sums of money and time clock adjusting, which received only pats on the hand and welcomed back with open arms. That may be acceptable to the owner but I do not like working in an environment where I have to constantly be on the alert to protect my money and possesssions. I hear daily about anal sex, oral sex, deviant sex, and you can only imagine. The kitchen manager has been reprimanded and moved twice because of claims of sexual harassment, but he is still the kitchen manager. To this day he speaks and acts inappropriately in regards to sex. He asks the waiters to get female customers names. He left his sexual positions handbook for all to see for over a week in a common area that even customers could see. I became spiritually and physically ill over this last year and I am now on the road of recovery. I put in my two weeks notice 3 days ago even though I don't have a job lined up, but I felt my spiritual and physical health were in danger. I attended an employee meeting this morning and confronted the manager once again and as you can imagine it didn't go well. I wasn't looking for applause but afterwards two young female employees approached me and thanked me. These two females have complained to the owner as well. My only concern now is that management, that has no moral compass, will give poor references. I am a hardworking employee who has a family to support. I am taking a pre- emptive strike which I feel will be necessary. I am seeking legal counsel in this matter. Please call me @210- 878-9927 or e-mail me @jruempel@yahoo.com. Thank you for your time.
