Post: Please help! Losing money going to work!

Posted by CSD on 6/08/07
My husband has been told to attend a series of seminars in order to become certified in several areas for work. These workshops are located 120 miles from his regular work destination. The commute there is 2 hours each way. He is hourly, and his employer says he only gets paid for the time that he is at the workshop...therefore only 4 hours per day. He normally works a 10 hour shift. On top of that, they said first way mileage is not reimburseable since the workshop is technically his first "work" destination. He is working and losing money...this just doesn't seem right! Anyone have any advice?
