Absolutely not true. My act of leaving a tip on a table is most definitely not "carelessness." Nor is it "unintentional" It is a knowing, voluntary and deliberate act. I have never, ever have to tip. That is my choice. Furthermore: Once the money leaves my possession (leave it on table, put it in a jar, etc.), I have relinquished all control as to what happenes to any tip I might choose to leave. If I want to gift a tip to a specific person, I hand it to him/her. It is then his/hers to do with any way s/he sees fit.
