I wrote a question last week about the manager at the motel
I am living in having the right to enter my room without
notice but I never recieved an answer..I would still like
some info on where to find the right to privacy laws and
whether they pertain to me as I live in a motel but I have
more problems with her now and would like someone to tell
me what I might be able to do here. We have lived in this
motel for over 6 months now so technically I believe we
have established residency?!? I have no transportation
right now (even my husbands work truck is not running now)
so I had to give this address to a few places so I would
get my mail as I can't get back and forth to a Post office
box right now. Well last week the manager asks me if my
name is vickie and I said yes and she says oh I have some
mail for you sorry I opened it by accident cause I just
though it was for me...ok no pproblem it can happen....well
now today I go in the office and she says oh I have some
mail for you and hands me an envelope. I was talking to
someone so I took the envelope and kept on talking...then
as I am going to my room I go to open it and I notice it
has been opened and taped back shut...the letter was even
hanging out a little bit so it was obviously removed from
the envelope. So I go back to the office and ask the
manager if i can talk to her for a minute and she says oh
yeah I opened your mail by mistake...I said (very politly)
yes thats what I wanted to ask you about I was just curious
as to why my mail keeps getting opened..and she went
ballistic on me...I'm not kidding a bit either my husband
was there with me...she says I can't believe you would even
ask me about this after all I have done for you. (WHAT???
she has done nothing for us except rent us a room for 6
months) so I said well wouldn't you be concerned if it was
your mail being opened and she told us to get out of her
office and from now on she is going to send our mail back .
Do I have any rights here and how do I pursue them.
I know people will say why don't you just move out but
believe me we would love to we are paying so much rent per
day and then having to eat out cause no kitchen that we are
using all our funds to keep the roof over our heads and
cant get the deposite and first month rent together and
then theres the car troubles...so we can't move out
yet....what else can we do?
I am expecting some very important mail in two weeks and if
I don't get it my daughter will lose fourth grade, I
homeschool her and I am expecting her CAT test and if I
don't get it ....she has to take that test to pass fourth
grade
