We've dealt with similar issues, and still do not have a
resolution. You are not alone, but I don't have any good
answers for you either. In our case, I had lost my job, and
we could not make the mtg payments. Our mtg co kept saying
job loss did not qualify under their plans to help! Since we
have an FHA, I knew better, and kept pursuing it. They
finally sent the needed paperwork FOUR MONTHS after we needed
it, then said it was too late to file for the help! To
shorten the saga, we ended up filing Ch 13 to save the house,
and are still paying thru the nose in interest rates. Our
mtg was recently sold, and the new company refused our
payment. We hired a real estate lawyer, and the new mtg co
will not talk to him either. We have no idea what is going on
still, and figure their goal is to foreclose on us at some
point, since they had bought a C13 loan anyway. We've had
calls in to the local HUD for over a month, but they cannot
find the time to call us back (altho we saw the lady who was
supposed to call us back on tv - she is too busy doing
interviews). We live day to day not knowing what is going to
happen with our housing situation, which is amazingly
    stressful.

Good luck to you - you will need it. The housing conglomerate
is a hard Goliath to fight if you are a "little guy".
