Post: Deferred Adjudication

I want someone to be straight with me regarding Deferred Adjudication. My son was arrested for reckless driving and "evading arrest". I hate that word. He was not "evading arrest" as he had nothing to be arrested for. This is a good kid--a clean cut kid and not into drugs or alcohol. He was asked to pull over by an officer into a parking lot. He did that. However, he waited a few minutes and when the officer did not come over, he left in order to try to get home by his curfew time. Needless to say, the officer chased him down and he was charged with evading. The officer was originally going to give him reckless only. Now he has 2 charges to which we accepted a DA. Of course, that required the "guilty" plea. We were told that due to the officer's report and the fact that a "uniform" would be testifying, that we did NOT want to go to trial. Now, after we have accepted this DA, I am so very worried that this will "follow" him and cause employment problems for him just as he is setting out into the big world. Will someone let me know if many people have problems? Can anything be done? Are only particular jobs affected by this, or is it universal problems from here on out? What in the world can I do regarding helping my precious son be able to make it. He certainly has a plan for his life and college in his future---is there no hope now?? Please help me. What bills are in the works that will help overcome these type problems for young people who make one "dumb" mistake????
