Dear Lost Everything, Sorry about your accident and disability! Must be rough! You most probably just misunderstood your lawyer. Get him to explain things to you again. What he probably told you is that you are not able to recover "damages" from your employer, just worker's compensation benefits: a percentage of your wages, plus medical expenses. You cannot recover for damages for pain and suffering, loss of ability to participate in sports, gardening, etc., for loss of past and future earnings. There is a lot more to it all than this, but this may help you understand what your lawyer was trying to tell you. Talk to him again about this! Best of luck! Sincerely, Hardy Parkerson, Atty.
