Post: Reverse Discrimination

I am a nurse in a convalescent facility. I love my work and the patients...unfortunately I feel strongly, that I've been sexually discriminated against by being taken off my regular unit and put on a physically strenious one because I am not gay or a lesbian. You see, 75% of the work force at this facility is gay or lesbian. I know this because they make comments all the time. They speak about how this guys butt looks good, how they use to whore themselves before they came into nursing and still do, how they date each other and what they do together. Some are HIV positive and work with the patients giving shots and dealing with blood and have confrontational contact with the patients, putting the elderly patient at total risk. There is a CMT that is a lesbian, shes stated so, that has made numerous mistakes on the passing of medications to the patients and this is covered up and ignored because she is a lesbian and dates another lesbian employee at this facility. Her unit manager is gay and does nothing. The director of nursing (D.O.N.) does nothing either, she is a lesbian and is dating and living with, the facility manager, which is another lesbian. Both of these lesbians got together and had a gay man, that works at this facilty also, father a child for them. A comment was made to me by the girlfriend of the CMT about how I smelled like fish. There were three lesbians together at the nurses station as I was doing my work...I walked off as they all looked at me and laughed. I believe, strongly, that I am a victim of reverse discrimination. I do not care what they do in their personal lives, this is not my business, so why are they trying to make it my business by speaking off and commenting about sexual preferences that have nothing to do with the job area. I feel that because I do not partake in this behavior they are causing undo stress on me and causing me to miss work. And it appears that I am put on a very hard unit and away from my regular unit as a disciplinary action and blame for something I did not do for the fact that I am not a lesbian. None of the others are rotated or put on a floating schedule as they recently did me. I am 43 years old, married for many years, have kids grown and have a grandchild. Any information and possible sex discrimination lawsuit would be greatly appreciated. Thank you
