My landlord is my ex boyfriend. He was mentally abusive
to me during the relationship so I ended it. After we
broke off I tried to remain on good terms with him. He
raised the rent considerably, but I have paid it. He told
me he was going to evict me as he had another women he
wanted to rent to who was on HUD and he could get even more
money. I thought he would give me time to find another
place. Yesterday he came over to fix my garbage disposal.
He got sexually aggressive with me. I told him to stop
and leave which he did. Today I got legally served eviction
papers. I live in California. He can evict me without
reason. I am a single mother and finding another place
will be difficult as rentals are scarce and costly where I
live. I need more time to find a place, but I do want to
be free from any contact with him. He is wealthy and has
a pack of high powered lawyers at his disposal and he and
his family own much of the town I live in. My boys are
doing well in middle school here and I have lived here my
whole life, have a job here and I don't want to move from
the area. Do I have any chance at all? Thank you!
