    Res Ipsa is half right. You might also be obligated to pay the
    ticket if, in some circumstances, depending on statute, you
    gave someone permission to use your car and they misparked it.

    Regardless, you should easily be able to get out of the
    ticket. I live in California, and have been able to get out of
    tickets just by calling up the traffic ticket department and
    saying that I had witnesses who said that I was not parked
    there. If you have a coherent excuse or reason, they will
    probably excuse your ticket.
