The decisions may be regarding employment, housing, education or other matters that fundamentally effect our lives. The prohibited factors include race, nationality, religion, gender, age, disability, as well as other protected statuses. Check out www.eeolaw.com for a more in depth analysis of discrimination. Harassment is a form of discrimination and is illegal insofar as it occurs in the context of a regulated relationship and is predicated or motivated by prohibited factors. Sexual harassment in employment is one kind of harassment that has generated much litigation and Supreme Court involvement. There are two types of sexual harassment in the workplace: quid pro quo sexual harassment and hostile work environment sexual harassment. Check out: http://www.uakron.edu/lawrev/robert1.html for an excellent primer on the types of sexual harassment in the workplace and their current treatment in the courts.
