...and unfortunatley, it seems that people with criminal records are continuously kicked to the wayside employment wise regardless of their performance, work history, or references. It seems ok for companies to just say "oops...you have something on your record...um..well, we dont trust you to work here - thanks for coming though". And although having all great reviews/performance evaluations, and making many contributions to the company, and even after being an assett to a company for 6 months, I experienced this very thing. This seems to be he most overlooked and ignored discrimination in the workplace, yet with the least amount of focus or legal support for defending your trustworthiness or rights (oh, people with criminal records have no rights employment wise...you are just an expendible part of society...). Even the EEOC reluctantly agreed to send the papers for me to file with this issue - and it always has to be related to race or no one will touch it. Bottom line is each situation is different, and if employers do not consider this, even in an "employ at will" state (translation -B.S.), there needs to be more support for hard working, honest, trustworthy individuals to earn a living and pay their bills regardless of an incident in theor past. However, despite having a criminal record, there are some places that will hire you quick - fast food and manual labor...
