Post: Chamber of Commerce conflict
Posted by Robert Huebner on 10/18/02
I recently wrote to the Board of Directors of my city's Chamber of Commerce on an issue involving a contractual dispute between me and a local business. I received no official response from the Chamber but did receive a call and letter from the local business's attorney threatening a lawsuit. The attorney who is representing the business is one of the Board of Directors I originally wrote to. This seems to me to be a conflict of interest. Can anyone tell me if this is indeed an ethics violation and what I should do about it? Incidentally, the local business owner I'm in dispute with is the President of the Chamber.
