Post: Lawyer not responding
Posted by Cindy on 12/08/02
On top of being lied to by previous lawyers we consulted with and/or hired, the lawyer we have now, who at least told us the truth about the state laws, has simply not responded to us in a timely manner. It has been a month since he returned a call. I have left msgs, emailed him, and even sent certified letters. We have paid a hefty retainer fee and have a contract with him. He is supposed to have written a demand letter for us long ago. The sad thing is, he's the best we've found...representing a plaintiff in a civil case in our state pays too little to interest lawyers. The service from them is deplorable. We are nearing our statute of limitations. Other people in a consumer group we are in relate similar tales of lawyers. Our state bar has never even replied to me about the lawyers that lied to us. I will file a complaint of course, if we have to, but where besides the state bar can we file the complaint? We want to do something to stop the clock on our statute of limitations since lawyers, not us, have caused these delays.
