Post: Re: Terminology of marital settlement agreement

I am currently going through some tax problems following my divorce of over 7 months ago. The ex and I owned a business which he bought me out on. Because my attorney didn't specify that the cash going to me was from the shares of stock but lumped together in one sum with personal assets, now the accountant for the corporation says that he has to issue me a 1099 for dividend distribution. My attorney assured me that she was doing things right. Now I am liable for 13K and have to go back to court to rewrite the MSA. In your opinion does this consititute malpractice on the part of my attorney?
