Post: Real estate settlement = representation?

Posted by Steve Mack on 1/21/04

The attorney who handled at least one real estate
settlement for us in the past is now representing a
neighbor to change the deed restrictions for our whole
neighborhood. I have contested to the attorney the
blanket change to the deed restrictions, preferring a more
specific change to accommodate his client.

Does this attorney have a conflict with my being a
    (former) client.

Also, the neighborhood did not hire him to make a blanket
deed restriction change for the whole neighborhood. He
seems to have accomplished his goal, to my detriment and
the detriment of others that had no voice. Did he
overstep his bounds saying that he thought this change
    was "good for the neighborhood."?
