Post: ommitted convictions on my law school application?

Posted by Jane Doe on 3/30/04

    Hi Everyone,

I have a fairly serious problem. When applying to law
school, I failed to disclose both a prior misdemeanor
conviction and the fact that I was currently being charged
with misdemeanors (both were required to be disclosed on
the application). Now that I'm in law school, I can't
figure out what to do. On the one hand, if I don't tell
the administration, and the state bar finds out (which they
surely will when they review my criminal record and check
it against my law school application), It will reflect
poorly with the committee that I continued to mislead the
school. On the other hand, if I tell the school, I'm
afraid I will be expelled and won't ever be able to
    practice.

I would be grateful if anyone can provide advice on how to
proceed and can help me think through the possible outcome
    of various actions...

    many thanks
-extremely worried and remorseful law student
