Post: Notary Journal thief

Posted by Jesse on 6/08/07

If a notary's journal was stolen by her boss (employer) to
forge the boss's client to sign a deed of trust over to
the boss; and the boss's brother signed as he was the
notary. The notary journal was then "placed back on the
shelf" of the notary. Also on another occasion, notary's
stamp was temporarily stolen in order to stamp a real
estate document. The notary never knew of the stealing,
it's also possible her stamp could have gone on more docs.
The boss is a theif who likes to pray on his clients and
his employees. Is the notary liable for what occurred, and
if so, what could she do now that she knows? thank you
