Post: father looking too change sons name too his own.

i am a father of a four year old boy. He has his mothers
maiden name for his last name. His mother has remarried
and does not have the maiden name. I am wondering how i
can go about getting my sons name changed too mine. I am
a loving father and have always been there for my son. I
am on the birthcerticate and have always paid support to
his mother. I am going too try asking her nicely, i am
just wondering if i have any legal rights too force a
change if needs be. i live in ny state.
