Re: In search of legal actions to take about child support

It's not a bad thing to get a court order for child support, nor does it need to be a combative one. It is only for the protection of the child. It's merely a formality in most cases. The term "pressing charges" sounds like it has to be a battle. It does not. If the child is his, it is an easy thing to do. Just go down to your local district courthouse and ask for a Petition to Establish Parentage and for Child Support. Even if he does not pay, he will have it hound him for the rest of his life. But you must get the court order first.A paternity test might be ordered if parentage is contested by him and the courts don't give those for free that I know of.
