Here is my situation. My sister in law moved in with my
wife and I from Venezuela. She obtained Permanent
Residency due to her husband in Venezuela was abusive and
her life was threatened if she would go back to
Venezuela. She now has medical issues and along with
other reasons, is having a hard time caring for my niece.
My niece has lived with us for the last 3 years and is now
7 years old. My sister in law wants to give my wife and I
legal guardianship of my niece. The problem is I don't
think her husband will sign out of spite. Is it possible
to get legal guardianship without him signing since the
situation she left her country was because of him? They
are now divorced. Thank you!
