In Jan of 2007, after two hospitalizations, an infant was
put in my care by her family. She is the grandaughter of
friends, and they have her 3 yo sister. In March of 2007
they were given guardianship of both children while mom,
their daughter, "got her act together". Her stay with me
was only supposed to be for the week, but as the weeks then
months went by the decision for guardianship was made. The
gps have guardianship of the child in our home only because
of medical insurance and it was only supposed to be
temporary. My dh and I have power of attorney. There is
no father listed on her birth certificate. Mom calls
frequently, but went 6 months without seeing the girls.
Here are my questions......
There is a paternal aunt showing interest, what are her
chances to get custody of children she doesn't know?

Mom is pregnant again, planning on marrying and moving to
another state....how will this affect her chances of
regaining custody if at any point she actually shows
interest like she claims she will?

Do we have ANY rights since the child has been in our home
for a year now?
